We are building tools for the work that funds the world's most important missions.

Mavenly is the operating system for grant funding. We are operators who have run grant-funded programs ourselves — and we are building the platform we wish we had had during all of it. Honestly, carefully, and for the long term.

    The origin

A diagnosis from inside the work itself.

Mavenly did not begin with a product idea. It began in 2020, when our founder started HBCU Endowment Fund, a 501(c)(3) supporting historically Black colleges and universities. Running the Fund's grant program — discovering opportunities, drafting applications, managing the pipeline, reporting outcomes — exposed the same problem that almost every nonprofit grants team encounters within their first quarter: the available tools support the paperwork around the work, but never the work itself.

The same pattern reappeared at World Nourishment Foundation, where outcome reporting against funder-specific compliance frameworks consumed staff hours that should have gone to mission delivery. By 2024, after four years of running grant programs across two nonprofits, the gap was clear enough to be acted on.

Mavenly's design began the following year, with both organizations — HBCU Endowment Fund and World Nourishment Foundation — as the first design partners. The product is shaped, week by week, by the practitioners who use it. That is the only way it could work.

    "

The most valuable hour I ever spent in this business was a Tuesday afternoon at HBCU Endowment Fund — watching a development director rewrite the same paragraph for the fifth time because none of our tools could tell her what the funder actually wanted. That hour is the entire reason Mavenly exists.

    The founder

    Operator first. Builder second.

Mavenly is being led by the founder who diagnosed the problem from inside the work. The bio below is short on credentials and long on substance — which is, broadly, how we think about most things.

Trevor is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mavenly. He is also the founder and CEO of T. James Enterprises Inc., the holding company under which Mavenly operates as a subsidiary alongside several other ventures across philanthropy, education, and financial services.

In 2020 he founded HBCU Endowment Fund Inc. (501(c)(3); EIN 84-4769135), where he has run grant programs across discovery, drafting, pipeline management, and compliance reporting for five years. He also founded World Nourishment Foundation (501(c)(3); EIN 39-3201783), where outcomes-reporting work against funder-specific frameworks shaped Mavenly's reporter design.

Trevor's earlier professional background was in systematic and algorithmic trading through T. James & Co. The discipline of building software systems that operate under deadline pressure with consequential stakes informs Mavenly's engineering philosophy today. He is based in Miami.

    Timeline

From the first grant to public launch.

A compressed history of the path that brought Mavenly into being. Five years from the start of the first nonprofit to the public launch of the platform.

    1. 2020

      HBCU Endowment Fund founded

National 501(c)(3) supporting historically Black colleges and universities through scholarships, emergency relief, and institutional capacity-building. The first nonprofit. The first grant program. The first encounter with the gap.

    2. 2022

      World Nourishment Foundation campaigns scale

Outcome reporting against multi-funder compliance frameworks consumes a meaningful portion of program-staff time. The pattern established at the Fund repeats — the work and the tooling are misaligned.

    3. 2024

      The diagnosis crystallizes

After four years of running grant programs across two nonprofits, the gap between the work and the tooling is clear enough to be acted on rather than worked around. Initial design conversations begin with the practitioners who would become design partners.

    4. 2025

      Mavenly development begins

Mavenly, Inc. (Delaware) and Mavenly LLC (Wyoming) are formed under T. James Enterprises Inc. Engineering work begins through Deep Learn Institute, with HBCU Endowment Fund and World Nourishment Foundation committed as the first two design partners.

    5. May 2026

      Self-serve signup opens

Mavenly opens self-serve signup with paid plans backed by a 14-day money-back guarantee on every tier. Seed financing begins simultaneously to extend the work through public launch.

    6. June 2026

      Public launch

Mavenly for Grantseekers and Mavenly for Grantmakers ship publicly. The first generally-available version of the operating system for grant funding.

    Values

What we hold ourselves to. Even when no one is looking.

These are not aspirational. They are the working principles we are willing to be measured against publicly. If we ever find ourselves in conflict with one of them, the value wins and the decision changes.

    01

Built by operators who have done the work.

We do not build for users we have not been. Every product decision is grounded in our team's experience running grant-funded programs — and refined in continuous conversation with the practitioners who use Mavenly daily. We will not hire a product manager who has never written a grant.

    02

    Mission-aligned economics.

Our pricing scales with customer success, not customer extraction. Small nonprofits ($1M revenue and under) have a free edition. Premium pricing applies to organizations whose grant program is large and consequential enough to justify it. We do not sell features that customers will never use.

    03

    Long-term over fast.

Grant programs operate on multi-year cycles. Our product roadmap and our customer relationships match the cadence. We are building Mavenly to be the operating system for grant funding for the next twenty years, not the next eighteen months.

    04

    Transparent by default.

We publish what we learn. Our roadmap is shared with customers. Our parent structure is named. Our design partners are named, with their permission. We do not hide affiliations or pretend to be something we are not.

    05

    Quality over volume.

We will turn down customers who are not a fit rather than sell to anyone with a credit card. The product is not for every nonprofit; it is for organizations whose grant program deserves real tooling. Saying no protects the customers we say yes to.

    Design partners

    The work happens alongside operators.

Mavenly's two design partners are 501(c)(3) nonprofits with active grant programs. They are not testimonial sources or reference customers. They are the practitioners who shape the product week by week.

    HBCU Endowment Fund

    501(c)(3) · EIN 84-4769135 · Atlanta, GA

National 501(c)(3) supporting historically Black colleges and universities through the Jesse L. Jackson "Keep Hope Alive" Scholarship, the Student Emergency Relief Fund, the Hope Circle monthly giving program, and corporate partnerships at the Community Champion through Platinum Partner tiers.

Mavenly's first grantseeker design partner. Their grant program — across discovery, drafting, pipeline management, and compliance — defined the product's foundation.

"The platform we wish we had had from day one — and the platform we are now helping build for every HBCU advancement office that comes after us."

    World Nourishment Foundation

    501(c)(3) · EIN 39-3201783

International 501(c)(3) addressing hunger and food insecurity through emergency relief, school lunch programs, and family meal initiatives — including the "When It Matters Most" campaign, "Fuel Their Future," and "No Family Left Hungry."

Mavenly's design partner for outcomes reporting and compliance automation. Their multi-funder reporting requirements shaped the design of Mavenly's reporter.

"Reporting used to be the silent tax on every awarded grant. Mavenly is finally letting our program staff focus on the program."
